Eye Cream Favorites
My eyes should have their own zip code. They seem to have sensations that are completely alien to every other part of my body. While I can pretty much try any product without irritation everywhere else, my eyes however need some ridiculous tender love and care. I can never pin point what ingredient makes them sting, itch, burn, swell, become bloodshot...so it's always a trial and error when trying anything new. While I don't have dark circles, I do have puffiness and serious dehydration that I look to combat with any product I try. Over the past few months, I've been trying out a number of different eye formulations and found a few gems that I'm excited to share with you.
So let's get to it.
Ingredients: English spring water aqua, oat kernel extract avena sativa (o), aloe vera aloe barbadensis, sun flower helianthus annuss (o), shea butter butyrospermum parkii (o), cetearyl alcohol argan argania spinosa (o), rose hip rosa canina (o), white birch cetula pendula, glyceryl stearate, calendula calendula officinalis, phenylethyl alcohol natural, coco glucosides
eye bright euphrasia officinalis, orange citrus aurantium (o), palmarosa cymbopogon martini, rose geranium pelargonium graveolens (o), tocopherol vitamin e, rose absolute rosa centefolia, vanilla vanilla plantifolia, benzoin styrax benzoin, sodium phytate, sodium hydroxide, benzyl alcohol (citral euganol geraniol citronellol farnesol linalool limonene benzyl benzoate benzyl cinnamate –naturally occurring components of essential oils)
This eye mask is incredibly creamy and very hydrating. It has beautiful ingredients that help comfort the sensitive eye area like Aloe Vera, Shea Butter and Argan oil. It also helps brighten dark circles without a smidgen of irritation. I find this eye cream perfect to use either day or night. It sits beautifully under eye makeup and allows concealers to not cake because they sit on top of a moisturized base. You get quite a lot of product for the value, so I would definitely recommend this for someone that has darkness, dryness or someone looking to plump fine lines. You can't go wrong with a creamy formula like this one!
Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Isostearyl Neopentanoate, Butylene Glycol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Dimethicone, Sorbitan Stearate, Pentylene Glycol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Di-C12-15 Alkyl Fumarate, Glyceryl Stearate, Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate, PEG-100 Stearate, Algae Exopolysaccharides, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Arginine/Lysine Polypeptide, Hydrolyzed Rice Protein, Hydrolyzed Lupine Protein, Acetyl Dipeptide-1 Cetyl Ester, Albizia Julibrissin Bark Extract, Sigesbeckia Orientalis Extract, Gold, Caffeine, Medicago Sativa (Alfalfa) Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract, Adenosine, Silica, Citrullus Lanatus (Watermelon) Fruit Extract, Lens Esculenta (Lentil) Fruit Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Aminomethyl Propanol, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Sorbitan Laurate, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Carbomer, Siloxanetriol Alginate, Acetyl Hydroxyproline, Polysorbate 20, Sodium PCA, Sorbic Acid, Sodium Lactate, Disodium EDTA, Tin Oxide, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Benzoate, Chlorphenesin, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891)
This eye cream has been a popular one during the daytime. It is very creamy but fully absorbent. It has a bouncy, airy yet silky consistency that my eyes love. I find myself reaching for it when I haven't had enough sleep or my eyes are looking generally tired. Upon application, there is an immediate brightening effect. It almost looks like my eyes have a light shining on them making them look more awake. The cream has a slight pink pearlescent color that allows darkness to be lifted away and become almost invisible. While I haven't been using it long enough to comment on lifting or firming, I do however love it for its immediate brightening effect. I would say this formula is good for anyone looking to combat all signs of aging.
Ingredients: Aqua/Water, Caprylyl Methicone, Glycerin, Jojoba Esters, Niacinamide, PEG-16 Macadamia Glycerides, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ceteareth-20, PEG-100 Stearate, Alcohol Denat., Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-38, Caffeine, Mu-conotoxin CnIIIC, Copper Lysinate/Prolinate, Hydrolyzed Lupine Protein, Terminalia Ferdinandiana Fruit Extract, Methylglucoside Phosphate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Extract, Arginine, Glycine, Hydroxypropyl Cyclodextrin, Carbomer, Hexylene Glycol, Citric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol
This is another beauty that is incredibly hydrating and brightening. It contains nourishing Jojoba Esters, brightening Niacinamide, Vitamin C and caffeine. This formula is on the lighter side than the other 2. It has almost a gel/cream texture and absorbs beautifully. I found it extremely helpful when my eyes need a boost of light. Like the Algenist formula, this one seems to absorb 10x more leaving zero residue and has more of a focus on brightening and plumping. If you have darkness, lines and puffiness, you may like this formula.
If you follow me on Instagram, you'll know that our family suffered a great loss over a month ago. Needless to say, my eyes have never been so red, irritated or swollen like those first few weeks. During that time, I found myself needing an even heavier dose of moisture and depuffing ingredients so that I can look somewhat normal and not scare my kids or co-workers. This next eye cream truly saved my eyes.

This is a new line of skincare developed by Lynne Florio and Renee Tavoularis. They have over 20 years of experience working together at luxury brand La Prairie. They've now teamed up together to create a really lovely line of products that I am currently testing and will share my favorites soon. First off, I love the packaging. It's very sturdy and I love that you don't have to open it and use a spatula to take out product and expose ingredients. Half a pump is all I needed to cover both eyes and all around the orbital bone. This cream was able to make my eyes look as though they had a resultful 8 hours of sleep within just a few hours. Nothing has EVER helped de-puff my eyes that quickly until now. Not only did it help with puffiness but it was also incredibly nourishing. My skin didn't feel tight or greasy, instead, all I felt was comforted and soothed. Anyone struggling with puffiness...you have to try this beauty. I literally tested it during the most extreme cases, and it worked wonders. This eye cream will never be out of stock in my closet.
So there you have my current eye creams on rotation. Here's a quick guide to who I think would benefit from the formulas:
- Jane Scrivner: lightweight hydration
- Algenist: Brightening, firming, lifting
- Skin Better: Hydration, brightening
- Well Within: hydration, puffiness
