The Facial Oil for Problem Skin

The Facial Oil for Problem Skin

It's no secret that I have misbehaved skin.  Every month my chin can experience a burst of unwanted visitors that can last a few days to weeks.  My recent skincare purchases have made my breakouts much more easy to manage and they help bring my skin back to life much faster. One particular brand that stands out in terms of performance is Votary

Today I'd like to focus on their new Super Seed Cleanser and Facial Oil.  This new line of "Health food for your skin" is designed to be extremely nourishing, anti-inflammatory, anti-irritation and anti-aging.  Sounds like the perfect combination for what my skin needs.

Let's start with the Super Seed Cleansing Oil.  It has 21 super seed oils.  Here's just a few from the ingredient list: jojoba, sunflower, pumpkin, camellia, hemp, black seed, chia, pomegranate, poppy, etc.  All of these ingredients are meant to sooth irritated skin and deeply hydrate and promote healing.

I personally don't like using this cleansing oil to remove makeup, but you can and it removes every last bit of it.  I like using it as a second cleanse, 2-3 pumps and allow the ingredients to soak into my dry skin before I apply a steamy Votary flannel (one comes with the oil) and wipe it off. My skin is left clean, plump and ready for the next step.

The scent of this oil is very different from the Rose and Geranium Cleansing oil which was their first and most popular.  It's very earthy and natural which is my absolute favorite scent.  I'm a huge fan of more natural scents then fruity and rosey ones.  This oil is perfect for anyone suffering from redness, inflammation, acne or dehydration.  It's helped me so much in terms of helping calm redness, reduce swelling and bringing some calm to my complexion.  I use it at night and sometimes in the morning if I have time to do a proper cleanse.  My favorite way of using it is applying 3-4 drops in my palm, spreading it quickly to both hands and massaging it onto dry skin.  After doing a proper massage, I add a couple drops in my hands and continue to massage in.  Then, taking a steamy flannel provided, I apply it to my face and breathe in the aroma, then wipe clean.

Now for the star product (in my opinion), the Super Seed Facial Oil.  This fragrance-free facial oil is meant to Feed Your Skin.  Comprised of 21 super seed oils that is meant to bring life and health back into your skin.  On Votary's site, they say to use this oil if your skin is feeling unhealthy and lifeless.

The texture of this oil is very silky and even though it's fragrance-free, it still has that natural earthy scent from all the natural seed oils.  It's not strong at all and goes away almost immediately upon application.  But I still enjoy a nice whiff before I massage it onto my skin. I'm very impressed with how quickly it absorbs and leaves skin feeling silky soft and plump, never greasy or tacky.

After using this facial oil a few times over a period of major distress on my chin, I saw significant changes to the level of redness and irritation surrounding each breakout.  My chin appeared less inflamed and more even-toned.  This oil also helped reduce the swelling of some cystic breakouts as well.  A keeper in my book.

Overall, if you are to get just one item from this line, get the Facial Oil.  It will work wonders on your troubled skin and help it come back to life...naturally.

Votary is available here in the UK, and at Anthropologie in the US.
